Yes it was a southeasterly (more like ese), Yes he can make it the other way in a NE and, how did he get the footage if he didn't have a HELMET CAM on??? (as in a camera on a stackhat...)

Yes it was stupid, Yes I was there and Yes he knows what he did wrong. Everybody just gets straight up and bags it out, education is better than alienation.

Oh and it was makeable, and was made on the same day.

No not by me, I can't take a risk like that because the consequences are too great and my mortgage won't pay itself. This is something each person must decide for themselves.

The op wasn't badly injured (scratches and ego don't count) and has learned a valuable lesson and posted here to show others that it doesn't always work the way you planned. Whats done is done and no harm done so how about we all just have a laugh at the stack and he sends it to funniest home videos and makes some coin in the process!

matt, you are a hellman.

great vid.

an inspiration to gold coast children as we have so many rock walls to jump!

checkout nitrocircus on google if you haters want daredevil stuff to whinge about.

G.C. waterpolice told me that that they are focused on jetski wankers and intoxicated boaties to worry about the odd fruity kiter (like matt c)

sooo farrr too much crime and death and anachy on the goldy for this vid to even raise an eyebrow.

but....."kite responsibly people"

in reply to matts original post..

Seems it would have been easy enough to get a mate to stand on the wall up wind of where you jump and give the all clear before you jump. That way you only risk hurting yourself (and getting kiting banned). losing control of your kite doing something without checking out if there a people on the other side (which there were) seems really dumb to me. you weren't far off looping straight into those two people at the end of the clip... Surely that seems dumb to everyone???

Reminds me of the time i sold a 05 14m best kite to a guy in S.A

Get lessons i said ......................... nah ive snowboarded for years

Get a decent harness .....................nah ill make my own

Stick to a nice sandy beach ............ the beach near us is rocky

Theres always cheap boards around , nah im going to make one

Week later ........ have you taken out the kite, yea i used a "belt" for a harness put it through the chicken loop worked fine untill i gave it to my dad................ oh ok , he got picked up and dumped on the rocks , he got 22 stitches in his knee and ten stiches in his chin.

Wouldn't the better solution have just been not to sell it to him knowing what he was gonna do?

Would you sell someone a knife if you knew they intended using it to stab someone?

Yeah but you need to let morons be morons if they are ever to learn how to not be a moron.

I reckon that guy is a prime "Darwin Award" candidate.

Yup. Some people should not be allowed to breed...like all those idiots who went down to the beach to see the tidal waves arrive.

bet Matt C wasn't expecting full green thumbs and 78 comments for his post.
I agree with the comments about stupid people getting our sport banned from beaches but in all fairness no one was on the wall so he didn't endanger anyone else besides himself.

don't know why i'm still reading and replying to this but here goes. pynnee.. his kite almost loops into people on the other side of the rock wall. He must have jumped without checking the other side which seems real dumb to me. reminds me of old footage of seth enslow. Good kiters take calculated risks. This involves making sure the greatest risk is to yourself, not others who don't get a say in it.
