GWS spotted again last 3 dd in a row. What are the f..ing authorities waiting for? Another death? Maybe a kid?
Only a matter of time again.
Just curious..
What action do you think the authorities should take??
Hunt and kill them?
Tag and track them?
Maybe something outside the square like having them installed with the Jaws theme music...
They should hunt and kill all great whites over 2.5 meters. There is no reason to have such large predators in the water. These sharks are hungry because we take all their food. Either we kill them or they eat us.
Its their water. Let them be. You go in the water you know it's a possibility. You drive you know you could have a crash. What right do we have to go Into their habitat and kill them? The day they grow legs and chase us up the beach then kill them. Untill then we should just understand its a risk we have to live with. Maybe we should eat less fish and not take everything out of the water. Then they won't be as hungry.
SHARKS ARE NOT MAN KILLERS!
horses kill more people cars kill more people illicit drugs kill more people.
ffs smoking kills more people but you want to hurt an innocent creature? if you get eaten then bad effing luck!!!!
p.s I had a gws eat a tow rope out of my hands a couple of months ago on the east coast n i dont hate them

Why is it their water? The ocean covers the greater part of our planet. Surely we can have a small little strip adjacent to land that we can feel relatively safe in.
Also I dont buy all the BS about mistaken ID. Maybe in the past, maybe with other non GW species,, but WE are being hunted now. If we were not a food source most of these victims remains would be found.
What part dont yu understand? Looks pretty clear to me.![]()
still haven't said what you think the solution is... The authorities should do what exactly.? Just saying ![]()
I hope none of the tree hugging shark lovers here eat fish or red meat. And also last week the state government gave the all clear to cull wild pigs. I also hope you guys are out raged and protesting/taking action against this decision, and if not is hypocrit the right word? Or just stupid hippie!! (watch the red thumbs come!)
The part with "we don't need sharks bigger than 2.5 m in the water" is so ridiculous is not funny.
How to put this clear and comprehendable: WE (humans) depend on the effing SHARKS.
WE (humans) are already harming ourselves by killing so many effing SHARKS.
Yes, it's such a tragic and painful experience to lose someone like that, but that doesn't mean we should hunt and kill them. Because they play a huge role in this already unbalanced world.
I am scared as **** when I go in the water, but that is part of the experience and I am willing to take the risk.
Just a super brief explanation of why do we need sharks...
As the apex predators of the oceans, the role of sharks is to keep other marine life in healthy balance and to regulate the oceans.
The prospect of a food chain minus its apex predators may mean the end of the line for many more species.
Sharks have widespread global distribution, are highly migratory and play a vital role in maintaining the health of ocean ecosystems.
Sharks are a critical component in an ecosystem that provides 1/3 of our world with food, produces more oxygen than all the rainforests combined, removes half of the atmosphere's manmade carbon dioxide (greenhouse gas), and controls our planet's temperature and weather.
The oceans are the most important ecosystem on the planet, and our best defense against global warming, containing life that absorbs most of the carbon dioxide (global warming gas) that we put into the atmosphere, converting it into a large percentage of the oxygen we breathe.
Sharks play a vital role at the top of the food chain by maintaining balance in the oceans. Destroying shark populations could destroy our oceans and our life support system.
We have already witnessed localized collapses of fisheries and ecosystems due to the removal of sharks, including the scallop fisheries in Chesapeake Bay, the coral reefs in Belize and the cod in New England.
I heard the shark net debate was brought up again as possible solution, I see more dolphins and turtles getting caught in the nets than stopping sharks......![]()
Surely with technology today there is a way of monitoring ocean life close to our beaches for larger objects..........?
Tagging is one way but how on earth are you going to tag all the GW's and even the ones that are tagged be sure that the devices stay in.
Apparently about 20 years ago the GWS became a totally protected species in Aus. Is it possible we are now living with the consequences of this decision?
I don't want to see any species wiped out, but is the great white at risk of this? If not, then I'm curious why they are totally protected?
