Hi Rusta,

Sorry, no * spare * RACER T shirts left. Seems like a few people grabbed the wrong size, so next year your t shirt will be in a bag with your # on, to prevent any confusion!

Please refer to the attached final results.

The attached results have been compiled from over 700 finish line photographs, video, two finish teams and the available Iridium Yellow Brick data (which was not as we expected). Thank you to our experienced and very professional start and finish teams for a great job under difficult conditions. For 2013 we will continue to strive to find a system that can finish 110 kite racers in real time.

Thank you for your support and here's to 2013!

Well done Johnno, a hard fought race. Couldn't agree more with you on not making mistakes. You need a good clean start to avoid the crowd to get clean air and water.
I fell a badly twice with my front foot coming out of the strap. I was lucky to weave through the start after beginning 20 deep, a few close calls but I survived.
I'm sure the video might show a huge dive boat getting a little too close for comfort..... fun fun fun and all part of racing from Rotto.

thanks to all the organisers, Redbull, Tim, the WAKSA crew and all the other races for coming along.

Johnno, time to start training again. the ledge to lancelin is on soon. WOHOOO...

I didn't go as well as I had hoped but good enough to get a carton each off a couple of guys half my age, ya gotta be happy with that.

Guys, what do these times translate to in actual race time? I'm assuming that the time is shown as actual time of day?
IE: what was the official start time?

You think Tighlines would have added times to the name since he had som much time available

I do have another nightshift tonight.

While you're at it you may as well correct the spelling of my name too and just to help you quickly find it in the list I'm a couple of places ahead of you

So obviously most people would be on surf and race boards.
I am just wondering if anyone was riding on a twintip and if so what place did you end up?

I rode a twinny, though it would be fine. Ended up 73rd which, considering I crashed eight times, dropped the kite twice and had to drag for the board on several crashes, was not too bad... I reckon I lost about more than 5 minutes in the crashes & crossed the line about a minute late so if you were super-fit (not me) and could keep your focus, perhaps not a bad choice, cold have been up in the top 40.

Fact was you could go plenty fast once it evened out (last 2km or so) but going downwind on a twinny is just too hard over long distances 'cos you ride it so flat and have to watch not to bury the nose (8 times )

All up though it was a great day, whatever you rode... Another big thanks to the organisers and all that took part and made it such a great day

Time to learn to ride a directional on downwinders....

Still a little disappointed not to know my result, and no responses to my other post - so if you happen to remember crashing into my green Naish Park on the beach at the finish line (domino effect) and apologised afterwards, could you let me know where you placed so I can get an idea...

Really enjoyed watching the L2L come over the horizon and into Leighton. Fantastic event, congrats to organisers and participants.
What if?
A Leighton to Lighthouse took place at the same time. Too much chaos mid way? Would be slightly more upwind and challenging. Timing mechanism already in place at each end. Ferries in place, great pub in place, probably good wind. Tell me I'm dreaming....

Interesting
Just checked out 2011 results
The top 23 place getters this year were equal to or better than last years 1st place time of 28:45

Although 2010 only seen 5 people under that time

There was bugger all wind last year.

However things are stepping up each year, I was 2 minutes quicker this year than last and dropped from 10th spot to 19th, you've obviously got to start getting serious if you want to stay competitive now days.

I also noticed that like you my speed picked up considerably in the last km or so, I wonder how much of that is because of the excitement of everyone starting to converge and race for the line or wether perhaps the wind did pick up a bit closer to shore?
