That is what I mentioned waaay back about 4 or 5 pages ago in this thread - that we do not want to increase the duopoly held by Coles and Woolies due to them ****** the farmers over.

and was told I was wrong (by the pro extended trading hrs people)

well, well.

Hey Mark_australia, I didn't update this thread to flame the fire of who's right or wrong. I doubt the people who were very strongly pro extended trading hours would ever venture back into this thread. They got what they wanted, so they have moved on
.
I added the link to show how the Duopoly is insideously taking freedom of choice away from consumers and tightening the screws on primary producers, the latter is what I find as disturbing as the potential social impact of extended trading hours.

As I stated before, I will be a happy chappy if I am proven wrong in the medium term.

Kind of like the strong AUD$, good for some in the short term but no so good for many in the medium to long term.

I know, but I will
I love the fact the pro side was so militant and anyone who is anti is called backwards and Perth is Dullsville blah blah.
But they have been proven wrong twice -
(1) that Myer have reverted back to the old hours as there is just not the market in Perth
(2) that the big two do engage in predatory pricing which the pro side denied

BTW I didn't get Doggie's comment. Was that for or against? Or was it just (.)(.)

What stood out for me was the shift in the % of full time employment to part time employment.
